The Sunday Reset: The 60-Minute Routine That Saves My Entire Week

Most dads live in reaction mode.

Monday hits.
Schedules collide.
Work explodes.
Kids need rides.
Dinner becomes chaos.

Before you know it, you're just trying to survive the week.

A few years ago I started doing something simple every Sunday.

It takes about 60 minutes.

But it completely changed how my weeks feel.

I call it The Sunday Reset.

Why the Sunday Reset Works

Instead of reacting to life, you start designing your week intentionally.

One hour of planning can save 5–10 hours of stress during the week.

My 60-Minute Sunday Reset

Here’s exactly what I do.

1. Calendar Review (10 minutes)

I open my calendar and look at the entire upcoming week.

I check:

• Work meetings
• Kids activities
• Family commitments
• Travel
• Deadlines

Then I ask one question:

Where will the stress points be?

Seeing the week ahead prevents surprises.

2. Meal Plan (10 minutes)

Dinner chaos destroys family evenings.

So every Sunday we decide:

• 4–5 dinners for the week
• who is cooking
• what groceries we need

This eliminates the daily:

"What are we eating tonight?"

3. Financial Check-In (10 minutes)

Once a week I check:

• investments
• savings progress
• upcoming bills

Money should run on systems, not emotions.

4. Health Planning (10 minutes)

If I don’t schedule workouts, they don’t happen.

So every Sunday I schedule:

• workouts
• lifting
• runs

Health improves when it's planned.

5. Identify the 3 Big Wins (10 minutes)

Instead of a massive to-do list, I focus on three wins for the week.

Examples:

• close a deal
• finish a project
• schedule family trip

Everything else is secondary.

6. Family Check-In (10 minutes)

We talk about:

• school events
• sports
• fun plans

It keeps the week feeling connected instead of chaotic.

The Real Goal

The Sunday Reset isn’t about productivity.

It’s about presence.

When your week is organized:

You are calmer.
You react less.
You enjoy your family more.

Final Thought

Most dads try to do more.

The real win is building better systems.

The Sunday Reset is one of the simplest systems I’ve found.
